Tyra Myers scored a game-high 19 points to lead the visiting Hammond Lady Skyhawks to a 79-40 win over the Ben Lippen Lady Falcons in a SCISA Region I-3A girls’ basketball battle Friday, February 2.

Ahlea Myers added 14, Morgan Walker had 13, and Trinity Johnson finished with 12 for the Skyhawks. Other scorers included Mikenzie Turner with eight, Claire Lewis with five, Anna Felder and Ariyana Best with three each, and Mikayla Turner with two.

Hanna Trawick led the Lady Falcons with 18. MyAngel Witherspoon chipped in eight, and Cache Jones, Abby Moore, and Ariel Miller finished with four each. Charlotte Anne Beers had two to complete the scoring for Ben Lippen.

Hammond raced to a 16-6 first quarter lead with two 3-pointers from Tyra Myers. Walker added four points in the paint, Johnson converted two steals into layups, and Ahlea Myers sank a jumper.

Ben Lippen scored the first points two of the second with a follow from Beers, but the Skyhawks answered with a 14-0 run. Walker converted on two conventional 3-point plays during the run. The Falcons stopped the bleeding momentarily with a drive from Moore and a layup from Miller, but Hammond closed the quarter with a 5-0 run to take a 36- 16 lead into the break.

The Skyhawks outscored Ben Lippen 24- 10 in the third quarter. Tyra Myers led the way with ten points. Witherspoon scored six for the Falcons.

Trawick went on a tear for Ben Lippen in the fourth quarter scoring 12 of the Falcons’ 14 points. Miller had the other two. It was not near enough though as the Skyhawks kept on rolling. Ahlea Myers dropped seven points in the quarter, and Mikenzie Turner added four. Johnson, Lewis, Best, and Mikayla Turner all contributed as well.
