Studio + Design A few years ago, Kara Hugg, Kristin Jensen, and Kristen Lominack couldn’t have imagined they would be entrepreneurs, but Saturday, November 25 marks one year in their new boutique location in Columbia, SC.

Kara was always a small town girl with a big eye for fashion. She launched Poshture Boutique, her online clothing store in 2013. Kara started doing home shows for friends, and a year later had the opportunity to expand into a storefront, renting a small space from another business owner in Lexington, SC.

In 2015, she left her full time marketing job to focus her attention completely on her love for fashion. She spent another year developing the style she wanted to convey in her own business. Kara’s goal has always been to create a place where women of all ages can find an outfit or accessory to make them feel like the best version of themselves.

Shortly after Kara opened her online clothing store, her sister, Kristin Jensen, met Kristen Lominack. They discovered, much to their amusement, they both shared the same name and were both expecting their third boy at the time.

The similarities kept mounting, and their friendship grew, along with their bellies, until they both delivered their sons on the very same day. The idea for their boutique was born about the same time as their babies.

Texting during late night feedings and talking during playdates, the two discovered they shared a love for all things monogrammed, smocked, and southern. Soon Fancy Pants Fine Children’s Clothing and Gifts was born.

Named after their boys, who they insisted on dressing “fancy” despite their growing objections, the two started a storefront the same way Kara had, renting a small space in Lexington from another business owner.

It wasn’t long before the three women decided to take their businesses to the next level and open their very own storefront in Columbia, SC. They knew together they could offer local women the best for their children and themselves, all in one amazing storefront.

Opened in November of 2016, Fancy Pants and Poshture Boutique is located at 2900 Dreher Shoals Road. The storefront offers clothing for children from newborn to boys and girls 16, women’s clothing and accessories, and gifts for every holiday and occasion. They say, they truly offer the best of boutique shopping in one convenient location.
