This is the first state title in women’s golf for the Cardinals, and it comes in the fourth year of the program.

Inclement weather forced tournament organizers to call the action after nine holes.

Cardinal Newman shot 191 for the nine holes, defeating Ashley Hall by three strokes. Hammond, the other Midlands team in the field, finished seventh with 224.

Cardinal freshman Lextyn Petz shot 39 to share medalist honors along with Lexi Bennett of Laurence Manning; both also received all-state honors due to top-five finishes.

Heathwood Hall’s Olivia Antonetti, competing as an individual, and Cardinal Newman’s Erin Boyer finished among a group of five who tied for sixth with 46.
