Cardinal Newman School announces Alumni Hall of Fame



At a ceremony on October 1, Cardinal Newman School inducted six distinguished alumni into its Hall of Fame. The school also inducted two members into The John Henry Newman Society, an honor bestowed upon non-alumni who have given outstanding service to the School. Alumni Hall of Fame Honorees and distinctions include Dr. Chris Edge (’74)—Achievements in atomic physics, particularly in the field of digital color imaging; Dr. Joe Whitlark (’77)—Achievements in medicine, specifically thoracic surgery and wound care; John Sherrer (’87)—Achievements in and dedication to the preservation of public history and culture; Chief Charles Barranco (’88)—Distinguished career in public service and safety; Dr. Mary Mahoney Ruisi (’97)—Extensive career in medical research, specifically in oncology; Rev. David Nerbun (’01)—Dedication to the Catholic Church. The John Henry Newman Society: Rev. Charles Kelley—Service to Ursuline High, Catholic High, and Cardinal Newman School. He was a teacher, rector, and principal during the years of 1955-1969; Michael Nieri—Exemplary service to Cardinal Newman School and her mission.
