Utilities sell monetary rights

Santee Cooper and SCANA are selling the monetary rights to a $2.2 billion settlement claim owed to the utilities by Toshiba to Citibank. SCANA will receive almost $1.92 billion for the 55 percent share owed to subsidiary S.C. Electric & Gas.

Equity firms bid for Westinghouse

Reuters is reporting that private equity firms Blackstone Group L.P. and Apollo Global Management are bidding for the business of bankrupt Westinghouse Electric Co., the main contractor on the failed V.C. Summer nuclear station.
