Lower Richland struck first. With only seconds remaining in the opening quarter, the Diamond Hornets took advantage of a long punt return by Jamal Henderson. A nine-yard pass from Jamison Ganzy to Deamondre Goodwin gave Lower Richland a 6-0 lead.

Airport chipped into the deficit at the end of the first half. A seven-play, 46- yard drive ended with a 26-yard field goal by Paxton

Brooks, making the score 6-3.

The Diamond Hornets gained the momentum in the third quarter. A seven-play, 59-yard drive ended with Ganzy finding Goodwin again, this time from seven yards out. At the 2:42 mark, Lower Richland held a 12-3 lead.

Airport earned its first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter. Following an interception by Kenyon Lindsey, the Eagles ended a short 16-yard drive with a three-yard scamper by Nanders Lawrence. The extra point was good, and Airport led 13-12.

Two possessions later, Lower Richland found its way back on top. After getting the ball at their own 43-yard line, the Diamond Hornets leaned on Keyshawn Capers, who rushed for 28 yards on the drive, and Tevaughn Higgins, who passed for 21 yards and rushed for eight yards, including running the final two yards for the score. With 3:53 left in the game, Lower Richland led 18-13.

On the ensuing Airport possession, the Diamond Hornets picked off a Justin Allen pass and took over at midfield.
