The Gourmet Shop owner celebrates 40th anniversary

Dennis Hiltner Dennis Hiltner Five Points, Columbia’s original village neighborhood, is celebrating a milestone this week for The Gourmet Shop’s owner, Dennis Hiltner. On August 9, 1977, Hiltner took over ownership of the Saluda Avenue Wine & Liquor and That Place Party Shop, transitioning them into The Gourmet Shop in 1979. This past Wednesday, August 9 marked Hiltner’s 40th anniversary in Five Points and was celebrated with a 25 percent off storewide sale.

About Dennis Hiltner:

A longstanding pillar of the Five Points community, Hiltner has contributed in a variety of ways over the years, including:

• Past President of the Five Points Association

• Current Five Points Association Board Member

• Current Five Points Foundation Board Member

• Chair of the Five Points Association Beauti-5 Comittee, including construction, oversight, and maintenance over Five Points’ three fountain plazas

• Chair of the Five Points Association Finance Committee
