Student overcomes odds to become valedictorian of Eau Claire High School’s class of 2017

Thomas Glenn Thomas Glenn Thomas Glenn had a dream since the ninth grade to speak to his class at Eau Claire High School

During his sophomore year, Glenn found out he would need open heart surgery. After the surgery November 6, 2014, he was told he could no longer participate in sports.

Glenn was determined and made a major comeback in 2015, allowing him to begin participating in some activities. He became vice president of the National Honor Society, graduated from Palmetto Boys State, was a Peer College

Summit Leader, a member of Men of Distinction, was inducted into All Academic All Stars, was a member of the marching band, and played varsity basketball, track, and tennis.

Glenn is the son of Thomas and Phaedra Glenn of Columbia and the grandson of Rebecca McConnell and the late Johnny Mc- Connell, and Thomas and Georgia Glenn.

Thomas Glenn’s dream came true when he was named the valedictorian of Eau Claire High School’s 2017 graduating class.

He plans to attend Winthrop University this fall.
