Quarry Crusher Run brings 802 runners

By Josh Cruse

We Are Olympia held its monthly meeting Monday, April 17.

Darla Oldham announced 802 runners participated in the Quarry Crusher Run held Saturday, March 25.

The large turnout eased concerns about holding the run between the St. Patrick’s Day run in Five Points Saturday, March 17 and the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston Saturday, April 1.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department officer Paul Sanguilliano reported an uptick in auto break-ins, particularly on Georgia and Texas Streets. Sanguilliano said it is usual to see crime trend upward during spring and summer breaks.

He urges residents to take any valuables out of their vehicles, claiming the most common items stolen are guns.

Sanguilliano said his unit is already making plans for suppression operations during the summer.
