Children’s advocate elected to Glenforest School Board

Joyce Farr Cheeks Joyce Farr Cheeks Children’s advocate Joyce Farr Cheeks has been elected to a three year term on the Glenforest School Board.

A practicing attorney in Columbia, Cheeks has served as the General Counsel to the South Carolina Foster Care Review Board and has been a lawyer in private practice since 1991. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar and American Bar Association. She has served on the board of directors of the Communities in Schools South Carolina for 13 years.

In addition to her juris doctor degree from the University of South Carolina, Cheeks has a master of business administration from the University of South Carolina.

Cheeks has also served on the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Glenforest board chairman Scott Elliott welcomes Cheeks to the Glenforest Board. “Ms. Cheeks’s legal experience and business acumen will bring much needed management skills to our growing private school. Her advocacy for children makes her uniquely qualified to govern passionately.”
