Edventure holds International Costume Party for children
Dr. Raj Aluri, director of the Columbia International Festival (CIF), said the CIF Committee decided to host a special event for international children and families living in Columbia prior to the April festival.
On January 18, EdVenture Museum and the Odaly’s Bakery in West Columbia joined volunteers with the CIF to host an International Children’s Costume Party. The event was offered to members of Columbia’s international community and encouraged parents to bring their children dressed in their national costumes.
The International Costume Party for children offered professional photographs of each child in their national costume, free admission to EdVenture
Museum, national music, pizza, cake, and a piñata.
Dr. Aluri said Columbia International Festival volunteers wanted to “host an event in downtown Columbia at the EdVenture museum to share more of the cultural opportunities available for families in Columbia.”
The 19th annual Columbia International Festival will take place Saturday, April 5 and Sunday,
April 6. The indoor event held at the Cantey Building on the South Carolina State Fairgrounds draws thousands of people each year. Columbia International Festival attendees enjoy global cuisine, cultural performances, 60 national exhibits, and the Parade of Nations. This year the 2014 Theme for the Columbia International Festival will be the nation of Brazil.
