C., has expanded his business by opening Hay Hill Garden Market, a garden center and retail store, in Columbia, S.C., on Bluff Road. The new facility opened in March 2012. Gantt says that “there is nowhere like this in Columbia.”

The Hay Hill Garden Market offers a full outdoor garden center and a unique indoor retail store with specialty gardening, food, and decorative items carefully chosen for their unique quality and local flavor.

Hay Hill Garden Market sells four lines of outdoor grills (manufactured by Lynx, Primo, Broilmaster and Holland), Pawley’s Island hammocks, quail from Manchester Farms, handmade corn bowls, outdoor furniture, pottery and sculpture designed by resident artist Jeffrey Hall, Hay Hill Farms handmade soaps, and jams, relishes, and sauces from local farmers.

A large variety of fountains and outdoor garden sculptures produced by Hay Hill Services in St. Matthews are also found in the Hay Hill Garden Market outdoor garden center.

Gantt still operates Hay Hill Services on the site of his family farm in St. Matthews, S.C. For over 20 years, Hay Hill Services has offered landscape design installation and service. The staff of Hay Hill Services provides landscape architecture design and planning, installation crews for masonry and concrete projects, and landscape services which include planting, irrigation, and outdoor lighting. Gantt says they specialize in a variety of water fixtures and gas lighting while offering original designed sculpture and landscaping.

On June 9, 2012, Hay Hill Garden Market in Columbia celebrated “Cool Daddy Grill & Citrus Saturday” from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. with grilling demonstrations offered by Holland Grills and a presentation on growing lemon and lime citrus trees in the Midlands region of South Carolina by Stan Mckenzie, owner of McKenzie Farms & Nursery in Scranton, S.C.

Dozens of Columbia residents attended Saturday’s events and enjoyed fresh watermelon, apple pies, whole turkeys and quail cooked on the outdoor grills, samples of jellies and jams from Sallie’s Greatest Jellies, and shopping in the Hay Hill Garden Market store. Many also came to hear the presentation on growing citrus trees.

One participant in Saturday’s event noted Columbia residents need a garden center close to downtown Columbia since Grice’s garden center and Sterling garden center have recently closed.

Hay Hill Garden Market is located at 1625 Bluff Road, Columbia, SC 29201. Visit the website, www.hay hillgardenmarket.com or call 803-834-6652.
