I enjoy your newspaper so much. I especially love the commentary page. All three writers are hilarious. It makes my day to read what they have to say. I love Ariail, and I’m glad I can still view his political insight since leaving The State. Julia Rogers Hook’s article about her mother’s-in-law cooking being missed at the holidays brought tears and laughter because I knew Mrs. Hook, and she was the sweetest woman I ever met. I hope y’all can keep putting out this newspaper in these harsh economic times because it seems everytime you turn around, some business like yours closes down. Keep up the great job everyone is doing.

Really enjoyed reading and viewing this article [“Long live Thoreau,” January 20]. Have visited Concord and Walden Pond, and both are sacred places to my heart.
Enjoyed your words. Thank you for writing.
Don’t think that I had ever seen the picture of Henry David Thoreau..... nice, very nice.
