This year Santa and his elves from Columbia Richland Fire Department (CRFD) Ladder 9, 2nd Shift (Devine Street station) participated in the annual Children’s Christmas Parade along with numerous members of Palmetto Health Hospital and volunteers. For the last four years, hospital staff dress in holiday attire and decorate mobile hospital beds as floats and go around the halls of each of the children’s floors delivering gifts, candy, and cheer.

Santa and his elves from Ladder 9 along with Chief Jenkins and other members of the CRFD will be delivering gifts again this year on Christmas Eve to the children of Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital (#7 Richland Medical Park). “Because of our partnership with CRFD, our Christmas Eve celebration for our patients and families has been greatly enhanced. What a better way to put a smile on a child’s face than to have Santa arrive in a ladder truck to go room- toroom delivering presents? Thank you, Ladder 9!”said Christy Fink, Child Life supervisor.

Chief Jenkins stated that each child deserves to have a little something from Santa, especially for those that are in the hospital. Through the wonderful donations from the community and the staff of the Child Life Department of Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, this will be achieved.

Santa and Chief Jenkins encourage anyone who would like to make a donation to the Children’s Hospital to contact the Palmetto Health’s Child Life Department at 803-434-5658.
