Ridge View High School DECA teams show their financial sense
Ridge View High School Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) students took top honors and more in the H& R Block Dollars and Sense National Challenge. The recent online competition offered an opportunity for DECA members to demonstrate their financial literacy.
Ridge View High’s three DECA teams beat out 29 teams from across the state for first, second, and fourth place in the competition. The winning team of students—Cole Dickerson, Jeremy Jones and Andrew Cooper— placed fourth regionally and sixth in the nation. The trio will go on to compete at the national level in April at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Each member of the winning team will receive a $10,000 scholarship in addition to money for their school.
DECA aims to prepare students to be leaders and entrepreneurs in the marketing, finance, hospitality, and management industries.
