Lions host closing ceremonies for youth exchange camp

By Barbara Beckham

On Friday, August 12, the Blythewood Lions Club and the Columbia Northeast Lions Club hosted the closing ceremonies for the 2011 Lions International Youth Exchange Camp for South Carolina. Fifteen international students had been in the state for four weeks, staying with host families for two weeks and then traveling together across the state for the next two weeks. The group did white water rafting; visited Carowinds in the Upstate; toured Ripley’s Aquarium, toured the USC Gamecock stadium; as well as multiple other adventures and activities across the state.

The students were all flying home on Saturday to their native countries. The Friday night closing included a spaghetti supper, students talking about their experiences of the last four weeks. A special thanks were given to the many individuals, companies, and Lions, who made this 2011 camp a success.
