Massing of Colors event to be held April 17



The Columbia Chapter of The Military Order of the World Wars will hold its 18th Annual Massing of the Colors at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 17 at the Scottish Rite Temple at 7230 Garners Ferry Road. This annual patriotic and religious ceremony acknowledges our heritage of freedom and its symbolic representation, the Flag of the United States of America. Anticipated participation by 30 or more organization will provide color guards including ROTC and JROTC units from many parts of South Carolina, active and reserve Armed Forces units, Army and Air National Guard, and State Guard units, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, Rainbow Girls, DeMolay boys, various military veterans groups, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. There will be a brief patriotic address from the Commanding General of Fort Jackson and music by a brass ensemble of the Fort Jackson 282nd Army “Victory” Band.
