Carolina on my Mind
On Saturday, March 5, 2011, Cardinal Newman School hosted its 15th Annual Auction, Carolina On My Mind. The school cafeteria, gym, and the connecting hallway were decorated in fine low country style complete with moss draped paths and a beautiful mosaic Palmetto Tree created by Cardinal Newman art teacher, Angel Allen.
Those assembled dined on South Carolina cuisine from Lizard’s Thicket and a healthy dose of Low Country shrimp and grits. With an assortment of vacation packages, jewelry, parties, tuition certificates, dining, and entertainment offerings, collectables, and one precious and rare red lab puppy, bidders had plenty of opportunities to support Cardinal Newman School and carry home some really spectacular items.
Auction Co–Chairs Mary Black and Catherine August marveled at the “ incredible support and stand out individuals” who helped pull this year’s auction together in such tough economic times. They noted that there were “many facets managed by talented people in a collaborative effort.”

Silver sponsors included FN Manufacturing LLC, First Citizens, Hall Bowers LLC, JHS Architecture: Integrated Design Inc, K & M Uniforms/St. Anthony's Corner, Lizard’s Thicket, Palmetto Health, St. John Newman Catholic Church, and Williams–Hendricks Lawyers, Lexington, SC.

When the tide rolled in, many happy bidders went home with South Carolina treasures, and one lucky family went home with a precious Canine American to call their own.
