Salvation Army and Toys for Tots eager to help families for Christmas

Representatives from The Salvation Army and Toys for Tots will soon accept applications for Christmas Assistance at the Ruff Building at the South Carolina State Fair Grounds (1200 Rosewood Drive).

Days and times include Tuesday, November 2, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Friday, November 5, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

All people planning to attend must bring the following items • Picture ID & Social Security cards for everyone residing in the home; • Birth Certificates for every child 13 years old and under (If guardian is not listed as the birth parent they must bring proof of official custody (court documents) of the child); • Proof of all income in the home for the past 30 days (pay stubs, unemployment statement, SSI Disability, Social Security statement, Verification of VA or other pensions); • Zero income: Anyone 18 years old or older in the home must show proof of zero wage (Zero wage statement from the unemployment office); • Proof of all household expenses paid in the past 30 days (not bills owed, but bills that were paid) • If you receive assistance from DSS you must bring a House Hold Summary statement.

The Salvation Army in Columbia serves people in Richland, Fairfield, Newberry, and Lexington counties by providing assistance to families experiencing poverty or financial distress. Families are provided Christmas gifts prior to Christmas. This program is one way that The Salvation Army shares the love and care of Jesus Christ whose birth we celebrate during the Christmas season.
