Detwiler led Heathwood Hall to the Ben Lippen 42 yard line, but the drive stalled. However, Thomas Burg dropped a punt perfectly at the 10 yard line pinning the Falcons deep in their own territory. On the next play, Renew fumbled over to Heathwood, as he fought for extra yards.

An interference call a play later set up Heathwood with a first and goal at the Ben Lippen eight yard line. Detwiler then tossed a screen pass to Jance Shine who took it in the end zone for the first score of the game. The Falcons appeared to be on the march later in the quarter, but Monty Todd leapt high in front of Wilson to make an interception and set up Heathwood Hall at its own 18 yard line. Facing a 3–and–7 from the Heathwood 32 yard line, Detwiler found Shelton Whitaker on a jailbreak screen; he raced to the Ben Lippen five before getting caught from behind. After two sure touchdown passes were dropped, Detwiler found Chris Barton cutting in the end zone to give Heathwood a 13–7 lead with 2:02 remaining in the half.

After another Heathwood punt, the Falcons turned to Cory Jackson– Patrick. He rushed three times for 37 yards including a 9–yard touchdown run to help give Ben Lippen a 28–13 lead with 11.4 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

After a Highlander failed pass attempt on 4–and–7 from the Heathwood 33 yard line with 3:59 remaining in the game, Ben Lippen turned to Renew again. He powered 30 yards to the Heathwood three yard line, then a play later he waltzed into the end zone to widen the lead to 35–13.
