Brookland–Cayce girls’ golf coach Roger Smith enters the 2010 year following a 2009 season in which his team finished 14–5 that included a seventh place finish in AAA State and a fifth place finish in AAA Lower State.

Going into the 2010 season the girls’ golf team will depend on returning starters Marrett Rawls, Caroline Reid, and Katie Parler to carry the team, after losing four starters with significant experience.

Smith hopes new varsity golf member Kayla Gibson can provide an impact to this year’s teams. Kaitlyn Salak, Megan James, Calee Liscusky, and Libby Platt are other members of this year’s squad that Smith hopes he can count on for strong performances.

Hard work is a strength for this year’s squad as well as its overall enjoyment of golf. However, experience on the varsity level will be in short supply.

Overall Smith believes the girls’ golf team can be competitive against many of the opponents on the Bearcats’ schedule. He hopes the team will get better every time they tee it up but understands it’s hard to replace four starters with 20 years combined experience.
