Richland Two announces 2010–2011 Teachers of the Year

A teacher from 26 of the district’s schools was selected to be a 2010–2011 Teacher of the Year. The group of educators will be recognized at an informal reception on September 28 at 5 p.m. at Pontiac Elementary School. A formal reception will be held in February 2011.

These events are coordinated by the Richland Two Teacher Forum, which is comprised of former Teachers of the Year.

Representing the entire district as the 2010- 2011 District Teacher of the Year is Pontiac Elementary School first grade teacher Melissa McCloskey, who will compete for the State Teacher of the Year crown this spring. McCloskey has been teaching for 10 years after working for several years in the corporate world.

District Honor Roll Teachers of the Year are Lara Hodge of Bethel–Hanberry Elementary, Audrey Andrieski of North Springs Elementary, Beth Day of Kelly Mill Middle and Kim Tiedemann of Blythewood High. The distinguished group of teachers has a combined 74 years of teaching in the classroom.
