no because he was spending the night with the other boy. That boy said his mother didn’t know where he was because she was asleep. t Trenholm Road, 5200 block: A man was arrested again at 4 p.m. Tuesday after he tried to escape from a Columbia jail. The man had been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and was in jail awaiting his trial. During that time the accusing teen who brought the charges against the man moved away to an unknown location, and the charges had to be dropped. Unfortunately, the man thought it would be a good idea to try to escape, which he did manage to do briefly before being apprehended again. Had he just stayed in jail, he would have gone free, but now he is facing escape charges and when found guilty will serve out that sentence at a much higher security facility.
West Columbia
t McSwain Drive, 100 block Police were called to a motel at midnight Friday after a woman said a bloody man in his underwear was pounding on her door. When officers arrived, they found the man wielding a baseball bat in his briefs and bleeding from the head. The bloody man said he was looking for another man who caused him to wreck his moped, and he was going to use the bat to beat that guy up. When officers found the other man, he said the moped was his, and he didn’t cause the man with the bat to wreck it, but that man had attacked him for no reason. When officers suggested that the man with the bat could possibly have wrecked the bike due to being intoxicated, the man said that wasn’t possible because he had only had half a bottle of vodka. The other man told officers he wasn’t entirely sure how much he had to drink but he thought it was “a lot.” Both men were charged with public drunkenness and arrested and also trespassed from the motel.
