This and That Thrift Store opens to serve the mentally ill

On Saturday July 17, 2010, Mental Health America of South Carolina hosted the Grand Opening of its new consumerrun business, This and That Thrift Shop, located at 2238 Airport Boulevard in Springdale, S.C.

Mental Health America of South Carolina board members, members of the community, families and friends enjoyed food, live music, face painting, balloons, and a special ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening. Guests also had the opportunity to purchase items from the store.

The proceeds of the store will benefit the work of Mental Health America of South Carolina in one of its major service areas, the Bridges Clubhouse. Bridges Clubhouse is a day program designed to provide rehabilitative services to those diagnosed with mental illness in Richland and Lexington counties.

Mary Rawls of Midland Tech and Rosemary Hedden of Work in Progress Mary Rawls of Midland Tech and Rosemary Hedden of Work in Progress The Shop will be open for business in August 2010 on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the store or at the Bridges Clubhouse, 2105 Commerce Dr., Cayce S.C.

All donated items are tax deductible and a receipt will be given with every donation.
