Byrd achieves Eagle Scout rank

Kyle Weldon Byrd Kyle Weldon Byrd Kyle Weldon Byrd of Columbia has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was recently honored in a ceremony at the Bluff Road Community Park.

As his Eagle Scout Proj- ect, Byrd built a swing arbor at the Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development, located at Clemson Extension Research Center.

A member of Troop 158, Indian Waters Council, Boy Scouts of America, and under direction of the late Scoutmaster Abraham Riley, Byrd earned more than 23 Merit Awards, 15 awards and honors, and served in the Scouts since 2000 where he began in Troop 110.

He has received many commendations from community leaders and all branches of government, including President and First Lady Barack Obama. The Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting.
