Ben Lippen School announces appointments

Helen Boen, elementary school principal Helen Boen, elementary school principal A veteran school administrator and an experienced businesswoman have been appointed to key positions at Ben Lippen School in Columbia.

Helen Boen is the new elementary school principal. She has been serving as director of academics at Ben Lippen School for three years but has been active in the Christian school movement since the 1970s. She has taught every elementary school grade level and is well–known throughout the Southeastern United States. Her experience includes founding an educational consulting business in Georgia and serving as an interim school administrator, a curriculum advisor, and a convention speaker with special emphasis on raising responsible children. She earned a master of arts degree from San Diego State University.

Bonnie Spacek (pronounced SPAH– chek) has been named the director of development for Ben Lippen School. A native of Savannah, Ga., Spacek owned and operated multiple CiCi’s Pizza Restaurants for eight years and worked for five years in the insurance industry. She earned a bachelor of business degree in marketing from the University of Georgia. Spacek has been serving as a volunteer at Ben Lippen School since 2007 and has been active in the community and at her church since moving to Columbia 13 years ago.

“Helen Boen not only brings decades of experience to the job, but she is exceptionally strong in the areas of curriculum, teacher mentoring, and parental relationships,” Modarelli said. “Bonnie Spacek’s business expertise will be invaluable as she focuses on increasing financial resources for Ben Lippen School.”

through 12 and is a ministry of Columbia International University.
