Author discusses history of Forest Acres
Historic Columbia Foundation, the City of Forest Acres, and the Forest Acres Restaurant & Merchant Association will present a three–part lecture
series, History of Forest
Acres, Wednesdays September 15, 22, and 29 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Forest Acres City Hall, 5205 Trenholm Rd.
Dr. Warner Montgomery, author of the
soon–to–be–released Forest
Acres book and president
of The Columbia Star
newspaper, will share the history of Forest Acres through a chronological lens addressing early families, government, business, schools, churches, and residential growth. An optional bus tour (September 26) will feature visits to Quinine Hill and Millpond, Plumer House, Stork–Landrum House and Brickyard, Taylor– Fisher Mill, and other historic sites.
Participants will receive a $10 voucher good for use at any participating Forest Acres merchant or restaurant. Admission to the lecture series is $25 for Historic Columbia Foundation members, $30 for Forest Acres residents, and $35 for the public. The optional bus tour is $10.
