Elizabeth Nettles Medlin

A memorial service for Elizabeth N. Medlin, 92, was held 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at Shandon United Methodist Church. Visitation was 6–8 p.m. Thursday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Mrs. Medlin, wife of the late Fred Howell Medlin, died June 8, 2010. Born December 12, 1917, in Belhaven, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Estelle Hendrix Nettles. She was a graduate of Columbia College, a member of the Elizabeth McDaniel Chapter of Eastern Star, a member of Shandon United Methodist Church for 84 years, and a member of Good Will Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her son, Rev. William F. Medlin (Poh), Indiana; daughter, Marcia M. Legare (Tom), Columbia; brother, Dr. John Nettles, Oklahoma; sisters, Sarah Nettles, Columbia, Marjorie Waddell, Lexington; eight grandchildren: Dr. T. Keith Legare (Anit), Stuart B. Legare (Anna), John R. Legare (Jessie), Sallie L. York (Drew), Joshua Medlin, Anne Medlin, Sarah Medlin, and Jordan M. Pye (Shannon); eight great–grandchildren: Shaw, Kareena, Jenkins, Nevin, Sonia, Tommy, Isabel Legare, and Skyler Pye. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen L. Medlin and brother, Hendrix Nettles.
