In order to continue www.thecolumbiastar.com, we will have to convert it to a subscription only website beginning March 1. We hate to do it, but if we remain free, this website will cease to exist. We truly appreciate your understanding, and as always, the print edition is available free in over 300 locations throughout the Greater Columbia Metropolitan Area. Thank you!

Blythewood Middle School seventh grader, Maggie Hair, had artwork selected for publication in the 2010 edition of the Richland County Public Library’s Kids in Print , a collection of stories, poems, and artwork submitted by students ages 6–18.

More than 650 entries were received this year, and Maggie is one of 118 young people from across the Midlands whose work was selected.

Designed to encourage literacy, this project is a nontraditional way for the library to encourage interest in art and literature among young people.
