On Thursday night, May 27, at the convention center on Lincoln Street, the 2010 South Carolina Business Hall of Fame banquet attendees honored Harris E. DeLoach Jr. (chairman, president and CEO of Sonoco), M. Edward Sellers (chairman and CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina), and the late Silas C. McMeekin (former chairman and CEO of South Carolina Electric & Gas Company).
Established in 1985 by Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina and The State newspaper, the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame honors business people in South Carolina who serve as champions of free enterprise and role models for tomorrow’s business leaders.
Henri Baskins, Junior Achievement chair and regional director of external affairs at AT&T, and Stephanie Stuckey, president of Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina, recognized the honorees. There was a returning contingent of 10 laureates. Eleven outstanding Junior Achievement students served as student ambassadors and escorts.
