Project Pet celebrates Cinco de Meow–O

Contributed by Project Pet

Project Pet celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a twist this year by partnering with Thirsty Fellow Pizzeria and Pub on Gadsden Street for their own Cinco de Meow–O. Thirsty Fellow donated proceeds from the event towards Project Pet, and donations were also collected towards assisting in feline care. Nearly 100 supporters and cat lovers attended the event and helped raise over $700 towards homeless pets in the Midlands. “Cinco de Meow–O was a great way for us to give all of feline friends a chance to shine and celebrate all the love they have to give,” said Natasha Achberger of Project Pet.

Project Pet is a 501(c) 3 not–for–profit animal rescue organization dedicated to forming a humane solution for the pet overpopulation issue in the our community through education, legislation, spay/neuter programs and responsible adoptions. Formed in 1999, Project Pet has rescued over 7,700 cats and dogs scheduled for euthanasia from local shelters in Lexington and Richland Counties.
