On Tuesday, May 11, The Women After Five will sponsor the 17th Annual Women After Five Benefit and Silent Auction on behalf of Sistercare at the Columbia Conference Center, 169 Laurelhurst Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In 2009 The Women After Five raised more than $55,000 in support of the work of Sistercare with 93 percent of the proceeds going toward the support of Sistercare services, namely the counseling, sheltering, and myriad of services provided to end the cycle of violence for victims and their children.

In 2009 Sistercare served 9,089 women and children, sheltered 661, and turned away 270 due to lack of shelter beds. Sistercare is a private, nonprofit, United Way partner agency founded in 1981.
