Spring Valley High School takes first place in Project Lead the Way

Derek Knapp, Justin Lozano, and Tyler Pixley, of Spring Valley High School recently went to the State Competition for Project Lead the Way. They competed in the Introduction to Engineering Design competition.
There were 14 high schools competing. Each team was given a small toy wooden train with about six pieces. They had to measure each piece with dial calipers; hand sketch each piece with dimensions; model each piece in Inventor with proper views, dimensions, and assembly views and create a portfolio and a power point presentation to present to judges all in a three hour time limit.
Spring Valley students won first place in their first attempt in their first year of the class.
Schools competing in this event included Dutch Fork High School, Strom Thurmond Career Center, Academic Magnet High School, G. Frank Russell Career Center, Lake Marion High School and Technology Center, Stratford High School, Conway High School, Greenville High School, Lancaster High School, Garrett Academy of Technology, James Island Charter High School, Spring Valley High School, Anderson District 1 & 2 Career and Technology Center, and Wando High School.
