The South Carolina Association of Student Councils presented Spring Valley High School its Gold Award in recognition as Honor Council for 2009– 2010. Spring Valley last earned this award in the late 1980s.

Spring Valley High School was honored by the South Carolina Association of Student Councils as the 2009 District Rally Host with Justin McDuffie as chairman and Olisa Ashford as the Spring Valley advisory.

The Spring Valley Concert Band earned an overall Superior Rating at SCBDA State Concert Assessment on March 31 in Class 4 music.
