tMcSwain Drive, 100 block: A man called police at midnight Tuesday to report that two drug dealers to whom he owed money robbed him at knife point. The 54–year–old man told officers he was walking through the parking lot of a motel when the two dealers approached him and demanded he pay them $60 he owed them for a recent drug purchase. He said he tried to explain to them he didn’t have the money as he was just getting out of jail, but they didn’t understand his problem. One of them pulled out a knife and demanded his wallet, which he said he gave to them. The helpful victim told officers that the dealers resided at the same motel he did and gave them their room numbers, but when the officers approached the alleged dealers they denied robbing the man and of ever selling drugs to anyone.

t200 N. 12th Street: A woman came into police headquarters at 6 pm Monday to complain that her mother was harassing her. The 24–year–old woman told officers her mother was frivolously using police to do the harassing and she wanted it to stop. The woman said her mother continuously called police to complain about the welfare of the daughter’s child and to accuse the daughter of using drugs. She said in the past week her mother had sent police to her house three times. A friend of the woman also spoke to police and said the mother had called him on his cell leaving threats and using foul language.

t16th Street, 200 block: Two women and a man were arrested at 3 pm Wednesday after police noticed the man not wearing his seat belt. The female driver had a suspended license, and the male passenger gave officers a fake name. When the officers asked the women who he was, both denied knowing him or his name even though he was in their car. Because the man was acting suspiciously officers searched him and found 16 pills the man identified as Xanax, a common street drug. The man tried to run, fought with the officers and was finally subdued, but when they searched the women and the car, they found dozens of pills, methamphetamine bagged to sell and a scale to weigh the drugs. They also found the man’s real driver’s license. In one of the women’s purses the officers found what appeared to be morphine. All three were charged on drug charges and possession of paraphernalia. The man was additionally charged with resisting arrest.

tJoye Circle, 7000 block: Police were called to a home at 12 am Wednesday after a man and woman got into an argument over their 18–month–old baby. The woman said the father’s other “baby mother” was calling her and harassing her so she didn’t answer the phone when the father tried to reach her. He came to the house to check on his baby, and the two adults began to argue. She said he grabbed the baby, and she was trying to get the child away from him when he began to shove and slap her. She said he also pulled her by her hair and threw her to the floor. The man denied touching her but accused her of biting him on the arm. When officers checked the two out, the woman had no bruises to match her accusations, but the man had a red mark where he said the woman bit him. The man said the woman was bitter about her previous arrest because of domestic violence and was trying to get him arrested as well. He said he was trying to get the baby girl to go back to sleep when the woman snatched her from him and bit him on the arm. She then told him if he didn’t leave she would call police and “put on a show” to get him locked up. The man agreed to leave, the woman calmed down, and the baby went back to sleep. No arrests were made.

tBethel Church Road, 4000 block: It was a food fight at its best at 11:30 pm Monday when a 21–year–old woman hit her 41–year–old boyfriend with a bowl of pasta. Neighbors called police because of yelling and threats coming from the apartment. When officers arrived, they found the food on the floor and the woman very agitated. She said the man was having an affair with another woman and she admitted attacking the man. The man didn’t sustain any injuries from the pasta.

tForest Drive, 4000 block: Police didn’t know who to believe when they were called to a restaurant at 3 pm Sunday after a male and female employee allegedly got into a fight. When they arrived, the female said the man was making unwanted advances toward her, and she told him to stop. When he persisted, she told the manager and the manager fired him. She said the man argued with the manager and refused to leave the restaurant. Police went to the man’s home, and he said the woman had told him she was gay, and he asked her what it was like because he was curious. He said she told him she didn’t want to talk about it at work but then she brought it up again. He said this time he declined to discuss it and she got mad and made up the sexual assault story and got him fired.

Richland County

tSagebrook Road, 7000 block: A man called police at noon Tuesday and said he thought he might have been robbed. The 40–year–old man told deputies he met a man in October of last year who was selling a vehicle and the two struck a deal that the seller would deliver the car to his home. The man said he gave the seller $475 in cash that day, but he had still not delivered the car. The man said he was beginning to suspect that he might have been swindled.
