MMBA selects Teacher of the Year

Emily F. Mack Emily F. Mack Recently, the faculty of Midlands Math and Business Academy—a local public charter school— chose its Teacher of the Year.

Emily F. Mack is completing her first year as a certified elementary school teacher at MMBA. Mack, however, has ten years of teaching experience. She taught K–4 for one year and K–5 for six years at V.V. Reid School located in Columbia. Prior to that, she taught a combined K–4 and K–5 class for three years at Nia Child Development Center in Charleston.

Mack is a 2009 honor graduate of Columbia College; she earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and is highly qualified to teach second through sixth grades. In addition, she is a 1997 honor graduate of Trident Technical College where she earned a diploma in early childhood education and a certificate in childcare management.

Mack is the wife of Henry L. Mack, Sr. and the mother of three sons, Henry, Justin, and J’von. Henry is a freshman in college; Justin is a junior in high school; and J’von is in preschool. She is the daughter of Dorothy Ford and the late Edward Freeman of Charleston, the youngest of seven children.
