“In Our Schools” looks at four innovative programs to promote student learning
The “In Our Schools” television show this month features stories on innovative South Carolina programs including multi–age classrooms, teacher teaming, arts integration, and environmental education.
The hour–long telecast airs at 1 pm Sunday, March 28, on South Carolina ETV.
Tune in to find out about the state’s new LATTIS initiative – Looping Advances Teacher Teaming and Innovation in Schools. Administrators and teachers at Mountain View Elementary in Taylors (Greenville County) will discuss setting up and managing multi–age classroom for an innovative approach to learning for younger students.
In another segment, Windsor Hill Arts Infused Elementary in Dorchester School District Two will share its success with an arts integration program that involves all students including the needs population. Windsor Hill was a Kennedy Center School of Distinction Award recipient in 2009. Teachers and students will talk about how innovation has engaged students and impacted learning for all.
Environmental education will be highlighted with a report from Kelly Mill Middle School in Blythewood (Richland District Two). Administrators, teachers, and students will share strategies for a program entitled “Implementing an Innovation – Across the Curriculum and Out the Door!” This portion of the broadcast also includes a sneak preview of a new series for elementary and middle grade students – Environmental Ed – that’s in production now and will be available for the 2010–11 school year.
The March 28 edition of “In Our Schools” Sunday night’s program will be repeated on March 29 and 31 and on April 29 from 10:30–11:30 am on Channel 1 for taping by schools (unlimited rights).
