Artful Bras
Quilters of South Carolina presented a check March 4 for $11,000 to the Best Chance Network, a non –profit organization that supports women’s health by providing free breast and cervical cancer screening for medically underserved women in South Carolina.
Since 1994, quilters of South Carolina has been dedicated to recognizing individual quilt makers and quilt groups throughout South Carolina that provide opportunities for communication, education, and participation, and promote the history, art, and craft of quilt making.
In October, 2008, the Quilters of South Carolina created entries for the Artful Bra exhibit, a fundraiser for the Best Chance Network to raise awareness of breast cancer in South Carolina. Forty one members of the Quilters of South Carolina created 50 decorated bras that became the ARTFUL BRA exhibit. After traveling the state of South Carolina for the past year, the exhibit has been presented in a recently published book,

Artful Bras: Hooters, Melons, and Boobs, Oh My! The book includes the stories behind each entry, construction details, and inspirations.
Anita Bowen, of the Quilters of South Carolina said of the fundraiser, ”This whole thing is so amazing. If someone had been paid to write and implement a marketing plan, it never would have achieved what our group has done!”
The proceeds from the sale of the book provided for the $11,000 donation to be made by the Quilters of South Carolina to the Best Chance Network March 11.
