Richland County hosts Crane Creek Watershed meeting
Richland County Stormwater Management will host a Crane Creek Watershed Association Meeting on Thursday, March 4 from 6:30 pm–8 pm at the Crane Creek Community Center located at 7405 Fairfield Rd.
Area residents and property owners are encouraged to attend as the county finalizes a strategic management plan to improve water quality in the Crane Creek Watershed. Crane Creek is an impaired stream with bacteria concentrations and degraded streams. Due to these concerns, portions of Crane Creek are prohibited from recreational uses such as fishing and swimming.
This will be the final meeting in which the county will present a watershed management plan. Future meetings will focus on the implementation of a watershed plan to protect and restore the 67 sq. mi. Crane Creek watershed.
CCWA was formed by Richland County in 2008 and includes citizens and active stakeholders of the association (Richland County, SCDHEC, Town of Blythewood, City of Columbia, SCDNR, University of South Carolina, and Center for Watershed Protection).
