Businesses challenged to contribute to District’s Haitian relief campaign
Wendy Brawley (l) owner of IMARA Woman Magazine, donates to Richland One’s “3 for 3” giving campaign.
Former Richland One Board Chairwoman Wendy C. Brawley is challenging local business owners to join Richland One in its efforts to collect funds to aid children and other earthquake victims in Haiti.
Brawley, owner of
IMARA Woman Magazine,
and her husband, Paul Brawley, have donated $500 to the district’s “3 for 3” employee giving campaign. For each of three designated collection dates, Richland One employees have been asked by district leaders to contribute at least $3. All funds collected will be sent directly to the American Red Cross to help provide food, water, and medical supplies for earthquake victims.
The Brawleys are challenging other businesses, particularly businesses within Richland One, to follow their lead.
“As a small business in Richland One, we wanted to support Richland One’s effort to provide financial relief to the people of Haiti through the Red Cross,” Wendy Brawley said. “I just think that businesses that support the district ought to be encouraged to support this effort.”
Dr. Steve Wilson, an executive director of schools for Richland One, accepted the check on the district’s behalf. The check presentation was made at IMARA Woman’s 10th Anniversary and Scholarship Gala on February 12.
Other business owners who would like to contribute to Richland One’s “3 for 3” Haitian relief campaign should contact the Office of Communications at 231-7504.
