Seven schools were represented, but only three produced champions: host Cardinal Newman led the way with six, Hammond had five, and Heathwood Hall went home with three.

The match of the day took place at 112. In a rematch of last year’s championship match at 103, Cardinal Newman’s Cole McCarter battled Hammond’s Gervais Baker.

The scoring was tight throughout, and the two traded the lead back and forth until the final whistle. The match appeared headed to overtime, just like last year, until an official’s review of the scoring showed Baker with a 14–13 decision and his second straight title.

The match at 119 featured another CN–Hammond matchup, and this one was just as close, as the Cardinals’ Nathan Hayes defeated Matthew Kay 5–4. Other Cardinal champions included Thomas Touma at 125, Conor Egan at 135, Nick Palevich at 152, Kyle Maitland at 160, and Billy Solomon at 189.

Hammond’s Guy Castles repeated as state champion, this time at 140, by defeating Alex Guerin of CN. Other Skyhawk champions were Gantt Castles at 103, Bradford MacGillivray at 145, and Joseph McDougall at 215.

Heathwood’s Fripp Prioleau won his second consecutive state championship this year at 130 by pinning Seth Heckart of CN. Joseph Walker at 171 and Harrison Pendarves at 275 also won state titles for the Highlanders.
