Photo by Donna Harvey Audience demand is bringing “Always...Patsy Cline” back to Town Theatre with performances February 19 through March 6, Wednesday through Saturday, 8 pm and Sunday matinees at 3 pm, February 21 and 28. The most requested show in Town's history, this musical returns with original cast and directors: Shannon Willis Scruggs as Patsy; Kathy Hartzog as Louise; director Allison McNeely; and musical director Sarah Fletcher.

It presents a look at the life of the legendary country entertainer and her strong friendship with fan, Louise Seger, a divorced Houston housewife. Based on a true story, the show mixes Patsy’s country croons with Louise’s comedic turns. “Always... Patsy Cline” offers fans who remember her while she was alive a chance to reminisce. It gives new fans an appreciation of her music and an idea of how much she meant to her original fans.

Town’s production first premiered in August 2000 as the Board of Governors of The Columbia Stage Society pursued a theatre fundraiser. After playing to sold out houses, the theatre was asked to tour the production across South Carolina.

Town’s version of “Always…Patsy Cline” has graced the stages of the Newberry Opera House, Bishopville Opera House, and the community theatre venues in Dillon and Greenwood. In 2006, the show was again on the Town stage and returns now by popular demand.

While South Carolina playwright Ted Swindley's popular show has been performed all over the world, the Town Theatre production has been very special. Some of Swindley’s relatives have seen and praised the production, that features 26 country– music favorites performed by Shannon Willis Scruggs with hilarious narration by Kathy Hartzog. The powerful chemistry between these two performers lights up the stage.

Audiences cannot seem to get enough of this country favorite having requested that we bring ’em back where they belong. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again…you’re “Crazy” if you miss this one.
