Diamond Hornets even the score

The Lower Richland Lady Diamond Hornets avenged an earlier loss to A.C. Flora by defeating the Lady Falcons 52–34 at A.C. Flora Friday, January 29. Despite a close game through three quarters, the Diamond Hornets held A.C. Flora to only two points in the fourth quarter to help win in blowout fashion. Jasmine Harrison led the way for Lower Richland with 15 points with help from Beatrice Williams who chipped in 11.
A.C. Flora took an early lead with a bucket from Kim Roach, but four straight baskets from Lower Richland gave the Diamond Hornets an 8–2 advantage. The Falcons fought back when Bria Kitt made a three pointer then followed that up with a bucket on the next possession to make the score 8–7.
Later in the quarter, the Falcons tied the score at 13 with a bucket from Simoy Evans. However, buckets from Williams and Justice Nathan helped Lower Richland jump out to an 18–15 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Harrison and Que Rice opened up the second quarter with the first two baskets for Lower Richland sandwiched around a bucket from Roach giving the Diamond Hornets a 22–17 edge.
Lower Richland pushed the lead to six, after a bucket from Williams. However, a bucket from Roach near the end of the second quarter cut the Lower Richland lead to five at 27–22.
Lower Richland and A.C. Flora traded baskets to start the third quarter. Lauren Jones opened up the scoring with a bucket, cut- ting the deficit for A.C. Flora to 27–24. Staci Harris answered with a bucket of her own extending the lead back to five. Harrison helped to extend the lead to seven with a bucket. Then Jasmine Richardson gave Lower Richland its largest lead of the night with a bucket making the score 33–26.
The Falcons fought back scoring five straight points, starting with a bucket plus a foul shot from Kyeshia Dawkins and ending with two free throws from Jones. Two straight buckets from Harrison extended the lead back to six at 37–31, but a made free throw by Dawkins kept it a two possession game for A.C. Flora at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Lower Richland took advantage of A.C. Flora’s inability to make shots. An 11–0 run by Lower Richland keyed by four points from Harrison and Ashley Edmond helped put the game out of reach for the Diamond Hornets at 48–32. A.C. Flora’s only points came from Dawkins with less than a minute left to go. Two straight buckets from Lower Richland, one by Harrison, and one by Williams added to the victory for the Diamond Hornets at 52–34.
