Jan Wisner Hadwin
Jan Wisner Hadwin was presented the Order of the Palmetto January 26, 2010. This is the state’s highest civilian honor for service.
Since moving to Columbia in the late 1950s, Hadwin has immersed herself into the life of her community and has made a positive influence in the lives of others. Besides a destinguished career in banking, she has been an ambassador for such causes as International ATHENA Foundation, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, the SC Foster Care Review Board, the Capital Senior Center, the John C. Stennis Center of Public Service, the Columbia Museum of Art, Palmetto Place, and many others. Of special note, is her long and enduring service to the women’s clubs to which she has belonged.
“Her life is, indeed, a shining example of a lady who considers it an honor and privilege to serve others, and we are blessed by your tremendous work and generous service in so many areas. In short, this honors a well deserved life. Thank you for upholding the highest ideals of servant leadership in everything you do.”
