Hammond sophomore wins second in French Week poster contest
Nearly 150 students from around the United States submitted posters to this year’s contest in the elementary, middle school, and secondary divisions. The competition’s theme was “J’apprends le français parce que… / I’m learning French because…” Posters were judged according to theme relevance, visual impact, and originality. First, second, and third–prize winners, as well as honorable mention winners in each division, will receive a prize from the national office of the American Association of Teachers of French. “We think that this competition helps students to think creatively about the contest theme. They have to decide how to communicate that theme visually, and create posters by themselves. It gives the students the chance to do something a little different but still educational in their French class,” said Professor Randa Duvick of Valparaiso University (Indiana), national chair of the 2009 Poster Contest. All the posters may be viewed at www.valpo.edu/ foreignlang/aatf. |
