Jiffy Lube fixing cars and helping hearts Jiffy Lube® service centers in Columbia announced their participation in the third year of the company’s Maintenance Partners for Life campaign to support the American Heart Association’s ® (AHA) Go Red For Women movement February 1. Heart disease is the nation’s number one killer of women and men, and this campaign emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy heart and a healthy vehicle. Since 2008, Jiffy Lube service centers from across the country have donated more than $2.3 million to the cause, and in 2010 Jiffy Lube seeks to raise another $1 million. Between Feb 1 and March 14, customers can participate in the fundraising campaign by donating $3 to Go Red For Women at their local Jiffy Lube, and in return receive a Maintenance Partners for Life book worth over $100 in savings. Research shows that many people are unaware of threats to both their heart health and vehicle health. Cardiovascular disease kills approximately 460,000 women per year, averaging one woman per minute and according to the Car Care Council, eight out of ten vehicles fails at least one part of their inspection. The Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign stresses the importance of being vigilant about heart health and vehicle health, and educates people about smart, preventive maintenance for their bodies and vehicles. Customers will receive valuable information on keeping both their body and vehicle “engines” performing at their best. “In the past two years while doing the Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, we were able to raise awareness and educate our community on heart disease. We are excited to build on this momentum and continue to raise much– needed funds for heart disease prevention,” said Jim Orsi, director of operations for Jiffy Lube.
