Sandlapper Elementary first graders hold “Art from the Heart” auction
Sandlapper Elementary School first graders are opening their hearts in a global service learning project. In conjunction with their economics unit, students are learning about other children around the world living in third world countries.
The students were exposed to the severe poverty living conditions where some families lack their basic needs such as food, housing, and clean water. The first graders are creating unique artwork to sell at a silent art auction. All the proceeds will go to improve a school located in a village called Tazarine, in Morocco.
The first grade is partnering with a Peace Corp volunteer who is currently working in Tazarine.
An elegant evening at “Art from the Heart” will include refreshments provided by Otis Spunkmierer and live music provided by the Ridgeview High School Orchestra.
“Art from the Heart” will be Thursday, January 28 from 7 pm–8 pm at Sandlapper Elementary.
