Liz McMillan and Sara Fisher Liz McMillan and Sara Fisher Two hundred of Mary Greene’s closest friends gathered at her home January 6, 2010, for her 18th annual Twelfth Night Revelry. Greene, former director of government relations for the South Carolina Education Association and current owner of Greene Grassroots, shared her home and her passion with many state lawmakers, state officers, city leaders, and other community leaders.

In 2006, Greene began the tradition of collecting donated items for The Women’s Shelter in Columbia. She said this year the donations included a wide variety “from umbrellas to hand lotions to coffee and sugar. I think gloves were popular this year too because everyone could relate to it being so cold.” Greene also collected $650 to add to her donation to The Women’s Shelter.

Greene Grassroots provides support for associations and other groups to get their members involved in the legislative process. Some of Greene’s clients include Clemson, The Citadel, The South Carolina Hospital Association, the Municipal Association, and the American Cancer Society. She also provides business development for companies such as Delta Dental.
