Mr. and Mrs. James Willis Cantey Jr. of Columbia announce the engagement of their daughter, Leigh Childs Cantey of Columbia, to Ryan Alexander Thrasher of Greenville. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Benjamin Thrasher of Cleveland, S.C.

The bride–elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Nancy Moorer Cantey of Still Hopes and the late Mr. James Willis Cantey, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lee Sligh of Columbia. She is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a master of studies in environmental law from Vermont Law School. She is an assistant attorney general with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

The bridegroom– elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lowe Wilson of Greenville and the late Mrs. Frances Nutting Reese of Greenville. He is a graduate of The Citadel and received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, a master of studies in environmental law from Vermont Law School, and an international master of business administration from the USC Darla Moore School of Business. He is the general counsel for 10 Best Inc. in Greenville.

The wedding is planned for May 8, 2010, in Columbia.
