Salvation Army providing services at new location
The Salvation Army of the Midlands transacted a sale of the 2025 Main Street property in Columbia to the Midlands Housing Alliance January 6, however, the Army and its services to people will not cease. Emergency human needs services will continue at the Main Street property until January 29.
Continued operations will be located in a short term leased facility at 2430 Farrow Road. This is to become the Army’s command center for all Salvation Army operations in the Midlands. It is projected that the doors of the new facility will open on February 1.
Major Jones, area coordinator for Salvation Army services in the Midlands, is anxious for this community to know that the Army is not going out of business.
“It is full steam ahead for the Army,” he said. “And we pledge ourselves to be available to assist people in need.”
The Major further stated deep heartfelt appreciations to the citizens in the area who for 109 years have made the work and ministry of The Salvation Army possible.
